National Center for Accessible Transportation

Projects - Surveys

NCAT is conducting two surveys to develop a better understanding of travel accessibility.

  • The Airport Survey was designed to determine the current state of accessibility in U.S. airports. It was completed in May of 2005 with a 60% response rate. The survey results indicated that the availability of accessible features and services varies widely but that almost all airports have made, or are planning on making, improvements for passengers with disabilities. • The Traveler Survey is currently being developed and is intended to determine the attitudes of travelers with disabilities on accessible transportation features and services. The Traveler Survey will also ask questions about why people with disabilities do not travel.
